Oil Change and Inspection
Engine oil service, filter replacement, and multi-point vehicle inspection.
Preventive Maintenance
Rock Bridge Automotive Repair believes that proper maintenance is the foundation of a reliable vehicle. A vehicle that is regularly serviced lasts longer, costs less to own over time, and is safer to drive.
We service every system that benefits from scheduled attention — engine, brakes, cooling, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and more — using the correct fluids, filters, and procedures for each vehicle.
Engine oil lubricates and protects every moving part inside the engine. We perform oil changes using the correct oil weight and type specified for your vehicle, replace the filter, and perform a multi-point inspection to check for developing problems.
Tune-up service addresses the ignition and fuel system components that affect engine performance, fuel economy, and emissions. This includes spark plugs, air filters, fuel filters, PCV valves, and ignition component inspection.
At 100,000 miles, many vehicles need more than just spark plugs. We evaluate the entire upper engine picture — spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, and ignition components — to protect the engine for the next 100,000 miles.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air over time. Moisture in the brake fluid lowers the boiling point and causes internal corrosion in calipers, wheel cylinders, and ABS components. Regular brake fluid service removes the moisture-contaminated fluid.
Coolant protects the engine from freezing and overheating, but also prevents internal corrosion. Old coolant loses its corrosion inhibitors and becomes acidic, attacking aluminum components and seals. We test coolant condition and perform flush and fill service with the correct coolant type for each vehicle.
Steering and suspension components wear gradually and may not be obvious until they fail. We inspect tie rod ends, ball joints, control arm bushings, shock absorbers, struts, and related components for wear, play, and condition.
Gear oil in the differentials and transfer case breaks down over time and with mileage. We service these components with the correct fluids — including friction modifier additives for limited slip differentials — to protect the drivetrain.
Service intervals depend on the vehicle, oil type, and driving conditions. Modern vehicles with full synthetic oil may go 5,000 to 10,000 miles between oil changes. Other maintenance items have their own intervals. Following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule is the best starting point.
Yes. Preventive maintenance consistently costs less than the repairs that become necessary when maintenance is neglected. Oil changes prevent engine wear. Coolant service prevents internal corrosion. Brake fluid service prevents brake system moisture damage. The savings from prevention almost always exceed the service cost.
Not reliably. Many maintenance items — coolant condition, differential fluid breakdown, brake fluid moisture absorption — show no obvious symptoms until they cause a problem. Following the scheduled maintenance intervals is more reliable than waiting for the vehicle to tell you something is wrong.
